The wine-cellar exposed the necessity to realize a particular grapes pressing system that could satisfy both the reception of incoming grapes that need to be worked immediately, as, for example Chardonnay, Pinot etc., and the reception of other kinds of grapes, such as Barbera, Nebbiolo, that need a particular process of fermentation: it means that, during the harvesting stage, the phases of pressure could be laid upon.
An important problem to solve was the real danger of pipes blocking because of the incoming of the product to the presses, and the excessive distance of the fermentation tanks.
After a visit to the winery to check the real distances, as well as the available spaces and them
taken by existent equipments, we carried out some designs and three-dimensional images through the collaboration of our technical department, to agree the better solution and the project feasibility with the wine-makers.
We decided, therefore, to equip the winery with three pneumatic 120 hl presses with the opportunity to press totally from 15 to 20 tons a day, ruled by an automatic controller system and endowed with an axial loading system, replaced by possible loading from the hatch.
The axial load is managed through pneumatic valves, whereas the fermented grape-skins loading is ruled by a screw transporter, provided with pneumatic hatches.
Both systems are equipped with a full machine alarm to check the quantity of incoming grapes, so that the operator can stop the loading and pass to the loading of the following press.
